A kitchen extension to a terraced house in North London, with associated internal alterations.

This Victorian house sits within a terrace in North London, and was in very poor condition when our client purchased it. Along with a small kitchen the main problem with the house was that it sat over a metre above its lovely garden, with no connection between the interior of the house and the garden. Our solution lowered the kitchen to garden level, and played on the difference internally by opening up the rear wall of the house and creating two stairs to the entrance level – one down a service corridor that housed a utility, WC and storage, and the other up to a playroom for the family’s young children.
